Scoring system

This is just to put a quick guideline as to how I place my scores in the Reviews and Mid Season Report.

First Impressions

  • Hype Levels:
    • 5/5: “Episode 2 where???”
    • 4/5: “I enjoyed that first episode”
    • 3/5: “That was fine”
    • 2/5: “Meh, I guess if I got some free time”
    • 1/5: “Ergh”
  • Some minor adjustments for Potential:
    • +) Plenty, could be fantastic.
    • ) solid at best,  don’t really it to be spectacular nor horrible
    • -) Most likely would just be stupid. However it could still be stupid fun.

Series Reviews

  • 10: Absolutely favourite, a series that I will treasure personally for a very long time. May not be your favourite, but it’s certainly mine.
  • 9:  95% Flawless. Highly recommended
  • 8:  Highly rated series with several strong points and just a few flaws.
  • 7:  Strong series.
  • 6: Above average. Has really strong moments.
  • 5: Mediocre/forgettable series. May not be bad, but just alright.
  • 4: Something just doesn’t rub the right way, but at least I finished it.
  • 3: Just simply bad. Dropped by ep6
  • 2: Sorry, I just can’t. Dropped by ep3
  • 1: WTF iS THIS SHIT!? Dropped by ep1

MidSeasonReport

New System for 2014 since i realised that I don’t really have a chance to assign D, E by the old system. This is to abolish the whole unnecessary +/- while providing more range:

  • S: Absolutely brilliant throughout those past 6 episodes. There might be little blips somewhere, but overall it’s one fantastic viewing experience.
  • A: Mostly wonderful experience, but there’s just something there that marred the overall score.
  • B: Better than average shows out there, but still won’t be called as one of the greats just yet.
  • C:A positive experience in general, and I don’t regret my time ever while watching the past 6 episodes.
  • D: Some joy here and there, but mostly it’s just alright without being too fun.
  • E: Apathetic viewing experience, but still showing potential somewhere. Mostly for wishful thinking that the second half will be worth it.
  • F: I don’t really care about this show at all. Pretty much reserved for shows I don’t like that actually managed to get here.

  • D: I don’t like it, it’s borderline dropping material had I not have more time to watch this.
  • E: This series went horribly wrong somewhere even after a lackluster start. Usually dropped by ep3.
  • F: Didn’t even make it to 6 episodes, therefore you won’t see this grading in my MSR posts.

and then there are some slight +/- for finer adjustments
